Do you treat grout any differently when grouting externally vs internally?

When grouting externally, you should treat the process differently to when you are grouting internally. Firstly the external temperature should always be checked before grouting. Please note that our cement based ARDEX-FLEX FS/FL grouts should be applied when the temperature is a minimum of 5 degrees centigrade and our ARDEX EG 18 PLUS epoxy when the temperature is a minimum 10 degrees centigrade. Please take into consideration that direct wall and floor temperatures may differ to air temperatures. Ensure that the area to be grouted has dry joints and is not subjected to rain after grouting – this may mean covering the external floor with a polythene sheet after the grouting process to protect the grout from rain during the curing process. Please be aware that higher temperatures will shorten and lower temperatures will extend the working time. Ensure that all products are stored out of direct sunlight, and cementitious products are mixed with clean cold water.
