What is the difference between a 'floating' and 'unbonded' screed?

A floating screed is normally 65mm thick over insulation and 75mm in commercial situations. It is installed over a polythene membrane on the insulation acting as a slip membrane.

An unbonded screed is normally laid at 50mm over concrete or existing screed separated by a polythene membrane.  It is not normally directly attached to the underlying substrate.
